To describe my amateur style of "Closet Cos play"; when I have a fancy dress party or anime convention or performance or any other excuse to dress up I take a look at my own wardrobe and I use my imagination to decide a character I can form. My style is a commoners form of cos play where I use my own clothes and clothing I hunt for in charity shops to complete my ensembles i.e. I use everyday cheaply obtainable pieces along with basic sewing and body paint skills to create outfits that are never perfect or accurate but resemble my favourite characters and allow me to become them for a short while. Because of my style I usually choose characters with my own hair colour, I use snazaroo body paints as these wash off easily and my outfits never cost more than £15 estimate - the same if not cheaper than buying the costume from a party shop but you get the feel good achievement of creating it yourself. I have great respect and admiration for the hard working professional cosplayers who take the time to make their costumes so beautiful and perfect and I aspire to reach that level one day but for now I need that quick fix costume for the party tonight.
